A vibrant and multi-talented artistic community thrives in the Southport-Oak Island area with talents abounding in the performing arts. There are several theaters and Auditoriums in Brunswick County where the quality of performances rival entertainment in large metropolitan cities.

Amuzu Theater


Amuzu Theater-(pronounced “A mew zoo”) This historic building in Downtown Southport operated as a movie theater from 1917-1980.  The Amuzu Theatre is family owned and operated.  The Amuzu hosts several concerts and theatrical performance annually.  111 N. Howe Street, Southport. 910.523-2552.

Brunswick Little Theatre

Brunswick Little Theatre-  is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that creates quality performing arts theatrical productions for the enjoyment and education of the residents of Brunswick County.  In addition, they also support the Stage Struck Players a local youth production company.  The Brunswick Little Theatre has a year round performing arts calendar that also includes a children’s theater workshop entitled “Let’s Play” (children 4-12).  Performance locations and ticket prices vary, check their website for details on upcoming shows. 910.447-BLT6(2586).

Hatch Auditorium

 - Located on the campus of the North Carolina Assembly at Fort Caswell, a Christian retreat located at the end of Oak Island, just past the Oak Island Lighthouse in Caswell Beach.  Hatch Auditorium has seating for 300-1,000 and has a large performance stage.  It is used by those at Fort Caswell and by local organizations such as the Brunswick Concert Band and SeaNotes Choral Society as a location for concerts.

Build at a cost of more than three million dollars by the citizens of Brunswick County, the Odell Williamson Auditorium exists for the educational and cultural enrichment of the community.  This a state-of-the-art 1,500-seat performing arts facility adjoins to the Virginia Williamson Event Center, a large multipurpose room on the Main Campus of Brunswick Community College.  In addition to the local community using the facility for concerts, plays, dance recitals and more, BCC Odell Williamson Auditorium has a full performing arts subscription season with all types of national talent.
