“We are in this together” is the foundation of the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber’s of Commerce latest initiative– the Southport-Oak Island Promise. As North Carolina moves through the COVID-19 reopening phases, consumers want reassurance that our business community has made social distancing and disinfecting a priority and our businesses need to know that its customers are not putting their employees at risk.

The North Carolina Restaurant & Lodging Association is rolling out a "Count On Me NC" a restaurant specific program. At the same time, Cindy Capps, Rusty Hooks Dockside Grill attended a webinar discussing a similar program in Texas then approached the chamber about starting a Southport-Oak Island Promise.

The Southport-Oak Island Promise builds upon North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper's 3 W's – wear a cloth mask, wait 6’ apart, & wash your hands frequently. The chamber of commerce is providing its business community access to the Southport-Oak Island Promise certificate. Any business who accepts the Southport-Oak Island Promise challenge should notify the Chamber who is maintaining an online list of these businesses.

The Chamber is also asking residents and visitors to follow NC Governor Cooper’s 3 W’s, stay home if they are sick or exposed to COVID-19 and if they have underlying health conditions use online or contactless pickup or delivery options.

If you would like more information on the Southport-Oak Island Promise, contact the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of commerce at (910) 457-6964 or visit the website www.southport-oakisland.com Click the COVID-19 info banner.  If you would like to use your own business logo on the certificate or have a yard sign, contact SeaWay Printing at (910) 457-4568 or email [email protected].  There is a nominal $8.00 fee to change the logo.  If you want a yard sign the cost is $24.00 each.
