Sightseeing – From land, sea or air there are some sights to see and history to learn about in the Southport-Oak Island area.
Air: You think you know what the area looks like but take a scenic air tour and you will be amazed. We have two sightseeing tours you can take from the air – one in a small aircraft, the other in a helicopter. We have a list of sightseeing tour operators in our area.
Sea: Romantic trip or family outing a boat ride is a great way to see the sights, enjoy the sea breeze and make memories that only being on the water in the Southport-Oak Island area will afford. If you get lucky you will have dolphins playing in the wake behind your motor or sail boat tour. Here is a list of Charter Boats in the area.
Land: Self-guided or guided tours , seeing the sights and learning the history of the area can be great fun. The Chamber’s website can help you with a list of attractions to see on your own, including a list of all the movies filmed in the area and where they were filmed. Jump aboard a tram/golf cart and take a tour of downtown Southport with one of our tour companies like Southport Fun Tours. Tours leave from the Fort Johnston-Southport Museum and Visitors Center, 203 E. Bay Street. Don’t want to take a guided tour, get a Southport Historical Society Self-Guided Walking Tour brochure at the Visitor Center or the Chamber’s Welcome Center, 4433 Long Beach Road.
