The Museum of Coastal Carolina, North Carolina's only natural history museum on a barrier island. Experience coastal nature for the fun of it! Touch live sea creatures in the Sea Shore Gallery's touch tank stocked with sea stars, whelks, sea anemones, spider crabs, hermit crabs, an assortment of fish and more. Identify your beach treasures at the Carolina Shells exhibit, an extensive collection of more than 200 shells.
Walk through the dune in the Legacy of the Loggerhead exhibit to watch a video filmed on Ocean Isle Beach about the life cycle of loggerhead sea turtles.
Hands-on exhibits and extensive wildlife dioramas depict the plants and animals that live in the Green Swamp, barrier islands and coastal plain. Visit the museum gift shop, Nature's Treasures, where you will find an abundance of educational and entertaining gifts and vacation mementos.
Conveniently located beside a playground and a block from the beach and fishing pier, the museum hosts special family programs during the summer and activities throughout the year.
