Brunswick County Schools
According to Wikipedia education is any experience that has a formative effect on the way one thinks, feels or acts.  These experiences can be at any age hence the term Life Long Learning.   The Southport-Oak Island area of the North Carolina’s Brunswick Islands offers educational opportunities for all ages.

Early Childhood Education

Smart Start of Brunswick County is a non-profit organization focusing on the first 2,000 days of a child’s life.  They support parents and children through a number of programs and resources – such as childcare resources and referral, childcare subsidies, quality technical assistance, family support services, and NCPreK.  The State of North Carolina Division of Child Development (DCD) has a 1-5 star rating for licensing child care centers and family child care homes.  A one star rating indicates the child care program meets NC’s minimum standards and the two to five star licenses have met higher standards.  Looking for a childcare center in the Southport-Oak Island Area? Look in the Chamber’s Business Directory or the DCD offers an online child care facility search which will show the star ratings.   Looking to enter the infancy to pre-k field? Earn an Associate in Applied Science Degree, diploma or certificate in Brunswick Community College Early Childhood Education program.
